Russian law-enforcement bodies investigate activity of Yuri Luzhkov and his spouse

The verification is carried out on the basis of appeals of opposition leader Boris Nemtsov and LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky. Nemtsov asked law-enforcement bodies to verify the facts reflected in his reports â€œLuzhkov. Results" and "Luzhkov. Results â€“ 2â€. Zhirinovsky, in turn, attached his report â€œOn corrupt activities of the Government of Moscowâ€ to the appeal.

Nemtsov told journalists that all evidences had already been collected on two episodes reflected in their reports and the Investigation Committee of the Prosecutorâ€™s Office was waiting for a signal to launch the criminal cases. Zhirinovsky’s lawyer Sergei Belyak said that he was informed about start of investigation three weeks ago.

One of the officials participating in investigation confirmed it and said that signs of abuse of official position could be revealed in Luzhkov’s activity. The question is the sale of lot by Inteko government to the Moscow government. The second episode, intrigued by the investigating authorities was related to the tender on reconstruction of the statue â€œWorker and collective farmerâ€.
