A decree about the premature resignation of the Mayor of Moscow was signed Tuesday morning, APA reports quoting the Kremlin press service. Luzhkov was removed from his host because he lost confidence of the president, said the presidential decree.
Spokeswoman for the president Natalya Timakova said Medvedev was not planning to meet with the former mayor soon.
According to Interfax agency, Luzhkov was notified of his resignation in his office. The president appointed Vice Mayor of Moscow Vladimir Reshin to the post of Acting Mayor of the capital city.
