Russian President awards Vahid Alakbarov

Baku. Lachin Sultanova â€“ APA. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev presented the Order of Merit for the Fatherland to President of LUKOIL Vahid Alakbarov, APA reports.

The decree says that President of the company is awarded for his contributions and honest labor in the development of oil and gas complex.

Vahid Alakbarov was born in Baku on September 1, 1950. He graduated from Azerbaijan Institute of Oil and Chemistry (present Oil Academy) in 1974. Since 1968 he worked in the oil fields in Azerbaijan and western Siberia, in 1987-1990 he worked in USSR Oil and Gas Industry Ministry, in 1990-1991 was appointed first deputy minister of oil and gas industry, in 1992-1993 he became president of Langepas-Uray-Kogalymneft. He has been president of LUKOIL since 1993.

Vahid Alakbarov holds Doctor of Economic Science degree, is the full member of Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. He is one of 500 richest persons of the world.
