Baku-APA. Russia’s import for seven months of 2010 rose by 29.8 percent year-on-year, to 15 billion U.S. dollars, RIA Novosti news agency reported on Tuesday, APA reports quoting news.xinhuanet.com website.

According to the Federal Customs Service, from January to July 2010, import of textile and footwear rose by 45.7 percent to 1.239 billion dollars; import of machinery grew by 7.7 percent to 7.69 billion dollars; import of chemical products increased by 1.8 percent to 2.929 billion dollars.

For the same period, import of foods and food staples fell by 8.5 percent to 2.121 billion dollars.

In July, import rose by 1.042 billion dollars or by 6.7 percent month-on-month, to 16,552 billion dollars.

Import of foods fell in July by 1.6 percent, including sugar, grain, tobacco, meat and meat by-products. Import of sunflower oil, dairy, alcoholic and soft beverages, fruits, fish and vegetables rose during the same month.
