Former presidential candidate arrested in Kyrgyzstan

According to the source, six more persons have been arrested.

The supporters of the former candidate began to gather in Bishkek today. About 2000 people gathered in front of the parliament. The participants of the rally demanded meeting with temporary president Roza Otunbayeva, chanted slogans.

Urmat Bariktabasov demanded to drop criminal charges about him, he also demanded the post of head of the government.

Security forces dispersed the rally using tear gas, rubber bullets.

Criminal case has been launched on the incident.

Earlier, Urmat Bariktabasov faced charges of coup in 2005. At that time his supporters seized the government house. Bariktabasov left Kyrgyzstan and returned in June 2010. He is reportedly wanted by Kazakhstan law-enforcement bodies. He is accused of criminal crimes.
