Death toll in Kyrgyzstan unrests reaches 79

All of them died as a result of bullet wounds. Elena Bayalinova said 45 people still remained in hospitals, seven of whom are in critical condition. More than 1,500 people were injured in the unrests. 500 were hospitalized.

Mourning processions are currently being held in downtown Bishkek. The interim government has taken upon itself to cover burial expenses of those killed during the protests.

7 unidentified bodies are still in Bishkek morgue.

Protests began in the northwestern Kyrgyz town of Talas on April 6 and spread to other regions of the country including the capital, Bishkek. President Kurmanbek Bakiyev left Bishkek, when the opposition forces seized the government buildings in the capital. An interim government was formed in the country.
