Tbilisi. Nizami Mammadzdeh – APA. On Friday, Georgia commemorates the anniversary of the tragedy took place on April 9, 1989. According to APA Georgian bureau, Azerbaijani ambassador to Georgia Namig Aliyev visited the April 9 memorial outside the parliament in Tbilisi this morning and laid a wreath in front of the memorial. Members of the Georgian Azerbaijanis Congress also visited the memorial to pay tribute to the victims of the tragedy and to leave flowers there.
Former Soviet Army cracked down on peaceful demonstration in Tbilisi on April 9, 1989. The soldiers used unknown gas against the demonstrators, which killed 21 peaceful civilians.
