Tbilisi – APA. Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili met with opposition politician Levan Gachechiladze. They reached a tentative agreement on release of opposition activists, APA reports. Levan Gachechiladze said he would send the list of the detained opposition activists. It is not known who many opposition activists have been detained. 10 were supposedly detained in the clashes with the police. Gachechiladze said they had discussed Russia-Georgia relations, Saakashvili’s resignation and the situation in the country.
“I did not observe any intention of Saakashvili to compromise with the people. He mainly spoke about the threat from Russia and said the people should unite before this threat,” he said.
Gachechiladze said the opposition would continue rallies and the rallies would be of more radical character.
He did not rule out one more meeting with the President.
Mass rallies with the demand of President Saakashvili’s resignation have been taking place in Georgia since April 9.
