Makhchkala â€“ APA. â€œPresidentâ€ of unrecognized â€œRepublic of Ichkeriaâ€ Doku Umarov was killed as a result of the special operations in the Northern Caucasus, Interfax reports quoting the sources in the law enforcement bodies. The information has not been confirmed officially. Some sources say the body will undergo forensic medical examination.

Four members of Doku Umarovâ€™s group were killed in the special operation in the mountainous area on Chechnya-Ingushetia border on June 5. All of them were security officers of Doku Umarov. Member of State Duma Adam Delimkhanov said Umarov had been seriously wounded in the operation and escaped the pursuit.

Doku Umarovâ€™s death had been reported at least five times, but the reports were refuted. Law enforcers of the Republic of Chechnya say they can not officially confirm the fact. Doku Umarov was elected president of the unrecognized republic after the death of Aslan Mashadov. In 2007, he declared himself the leader of Caucasian Muslims.
