Makhchkala – APA. Dagestan’s Interior Minister Adilgirey Magomedtagirov, who was gunned down by a sniper on June 5, may have been killed as he wanted to participate in the presidential elections in Dagestan in 2010, APA reports quoting the Kommersant. Co-chair of Russian Caucasus People’s Committee Denga Khalidov said the Interior Minister might have been the victim of the struggle for the post of president.
“As far as we know Adilgirey Magomedtagirov wanted to run for presidency. Though he used strict methods, he was the only person who could set rules in the republic. According to the character of the murder, powerful persons ordered the murder. I do not want to name, but everybody in the republic knows whom Adilgirey Magomedtagirov’s death favors,” he said.

President of Dagestan Mukhu Aliyev said Interior Minister had been deceived and taken to the wedding and was killed there. He said the murder could have been committed by some persons in the law-enforcement bodies. This version was mentioned before, because the murderers knew the minister’s working schedule well enough.

Adilgirey Magomedtagirov was wounded by a sniper while leaving the wedding of the daughter of Abduljabbar Magometov, chief of Interior Ministry’s department to combat tax crimes. Magomedtagirov was taken to hospital, he died there. The murder was committed by a special soundless sniper rifle, with which special purpose forces of the Interior Ministry are provided.
