Dow Jones drops 0.56% while, S&P 500 gain 0.54% and Nasdaq 0.8%

Baku. Vahab Rzayev - APA-Economics. On Friday, the Dow industrials fell 45.24, or 0.56 percent, to 8,077.56. The Dow had been down more than 200 points early in the day and briefly moved into positive territory.
Broader stock indicators rose. The Standard & Poor’s 500 index rose 4.45, or 0.54 percent, to 831.95, while the Nasdaq composite index rose 11.80, or 0.81 percent, to 1,477.29.
The Russell 2000 index of smaller companies rose 1.51, or 0.34 percent, to 444.36.

Manufacturing and service industries in Europe shrank for the eighth straight month in January on weaker consumer spending and a drop in demand for the regionâ€™s exports as the global slump endures.

The FTSE 100 Index was little changed, falling 0.01% to 4052.47. Barclays and Old Mutual both fell more than 13%. Xstrata fell 5.8%.
Germanyâ€™s DAX 30 fell about 1% to 4178.94 as Infineon dropped 4.9%, Deutsche Bank fell 4.6% and Lufthansa fell 4.3%. Franceâ€™s CAC 40 slipped 0.7% to 2839.14 as Lafarge and BNP Paribas both fell almost 8%.
