Dow drop while Nasdaq and S&P 500 earn

Baku. Vahab Rzayev - APA-Economics. In the New York equities markets, the Dow Jones industrial average and the broader Standard & Poor’s 500-stock index spent much of the day trading within a narrow range.
At the close, the Dow Jones industrial average was down 25.41 points, or 0.3 percent, at 8,448.56. The Standard & Poor’s 500-stock index ended 1.53 points higher, or 0.2 percent, at 871.79, and the Nasdaq composite index was up 7.67 points, or 0.5 percent, at 1,546.46.
In European trading, the Dow Jones Euro Stoxx 50 index, a barometer of euro zone blue chips, fell 1.7 percent, while the FTSE 100 index in London closed down 0.6 percent. The CAC 40 in Paris slid 1.5 percent, and the DAX in Frankfurt fell 1.8 percent.
