Pakistani interior minister: Information suggests attack like Peshawar being planned

This was stated by Pakistan’s Federal interior Minister Nisar Ali Khan at a press conference, APA reports.

He stressed the importance of people’s support in counter-terrorism.

“The local population’s support is very important in countering terror. Hotel owners will be held responsible for any terrorists found in their hotels. I request all the hotel owners to strictly scrutinize anyone who wants to stay at their hotel,” said the minister.

Nisar Ali Khan said the government is consulting with mobile communication companies in the country and has blocked 500,000 illegal SIMs.

“If any company’s SIM is used during a terrorist attack, FIR will be registered against the company,” he warned.

The interior minister also called on the mass media to avoid spreading statements of terrorists and reports that can provoke terrorism.

“You’re committing injustice by spreading the message of those who chop off soldiers’ heads to play with them as a ball,” he noted.

Minister Khan added that the government has closed some madrasahs in the country which have apparent ties with the Taliban.
