Baku-APA. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un did not attend a session on Tuesday marking the 17th anniversary of his father Kim Jong Il’s election as Secretary General of the Workers’ Party of Korea, APA reports quoting ITAR-TASS.
The meeting was attended by high-ranking state, party and military leaders, including the chairman of the Supreme People’s Assembly (parliament) Kim Yong Nam and Prime Minister Pak Pong Ju.
Addressing the meeting, the secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, Kim Ki Nam, called for “demonstrating the power of Korea, of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and building a strong country and paradise for the people under the leadership of Kim Jong Un”.
A documentary about the North Korean leader, shown recently on central television, said the DPRK was successfully advancing on the road of socialism and prosperity “owing to painstaking efforts of the marshal, who continues lighting the path for the people like a flame despite suffering from discomfort.”
The footage showed the limping North Korean leader as well as a report about a parliamentary session not attended by Kim Jong Un.
The Korean Central News agency reported, however, that the leader had issued several instructions.
