Azerbaijani MP Zahid Oruj has called on the European Union to either abolish or simplify the visa regime for Azerbaijani citizens.
Addressing the parliament’s plenary session on Friday, the MP recalled that after Georgia, Ukraine is also going to be granted a visa-free travel by the EU, APA reported.
He noted that Azerbaijan has always been the EU’s closest political and legal partner.
“Instead, Azerbaijani citizens must undergo a very tough regime to enter the Schengen zone. If the EU and Western organizations want to win the favor of Azerbaijani citizens, then they should open its doors to them,” added MP Oruj.
