Baku-APA. Turkish police fired water cannons on a group of people on Tuesday marching in solidarity with protesters demanding Ankara authorities halt constructing a road through the campus of the Middle East Technical University (ODTÜ), APA reports quoting Todays Zaman.
Private Cihan news agency reported that at least one protester was injured in the incident, which largely took place in the İstiklal Street near İstanbul’s famed Taksim Square but later spread to other streets near the square.
The group initially gathered in Galatasaray Square but defied police warning to leave the area. Police then fired water cannon to disperse the crowd.
