Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi criticized US President Donald Trump for his remarks in Saudi Arabia.

The spokesman called Trump’s remarks on Iran groundless, APA’s Tehran bureau reported.

"The worthy and loyal people of Iran held the 12th presidential election transparently, thus the Islamic Republic declared its attachment to its system. In less than 48 hours, the US president, with his groundless statements against Iran, tried to spread his anti-Iran policy even more and to persuade regional countries to buy American weapons,” said Qasemi, stressing that the misleading positions of US government officials, their actions and destructive steps are aimed against the peoples of the region who are struggling to determine their fates.

The Iranian foreign ministry spokesman called on the US government to stop fomenting new wars, conducting anti-Iranian policies and supplying weapons to supporters of terrorism.

"Unfortunately, we are witnessing that the hostile and aggressive policies of US officials are leading to the strengthening of terrorist groups in the region. It would be nice if countries of the region, which give billions of dollars in exchange for America's mirage of support, would give their people the right to self-determination, thus ensuring their stability and well-being,” said Qasemi.

He noted that the support of the US and its allies for terrorists in the region is so obvious that no one believes the allegations of accusing others of terrorism.

“Peoples of the region realized that if the sources of supplies of weapons, money and information to IS disappear, they can be easily destroyed. Let America and its supporters in the region know that today the Islamic Republic, as a democratic, strong, and stable country, relies on the support of its people. Similar speeches by representatives of such countries will not force the country to leave its path,” he added.

It should be noted that Donald Trump during his speech in Saudi Arabia accused Iran of supporting terrorism in the region.
