Baku-APA. The Lebanese Hezbollah militant party on Tuesday claimed responsibility for a roadside bomb attack near the Israel-Lebanon borders earlier in the day that injured three Israeli soldiers, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
The militant party said in a press release that "the martyr Ali Hassan Haidar brigade from the Islamic resistance detonated the roadside bomb that targeted an Israeli infantry unit inside the occupied Shebaa farms, which left a number of injuries among the enemy soldiers."
A security source has told Xinhua earlier that the Israeli army shelled on Tuesday afternoon the east sector of southern Lebanon following the explosion. The source, on condition of anonymity, said the bomb targeted a Merkava tank near an Israeli post in Roueisset el Alam inside the occupied Shebaa farms.
A cautious calm is reigning in the area, though an Israeli drone is still overflying the region.
The UN Interim Force in Lebanon has called on both sides to contain the situation and prevent any further escalation.
