Ebrahim Raisi, the leading rival to president Hassan Rouhani in presidential election, ranks 2nd with 15,796,468 votes.
Other candidates Mustafa Mirsalim collected 455,211 votes, Mustafa Hashimitaba – 210,597 votes.
Ali Asghar Ahmadi, the director of the Election Committee of Iran's Interior Ministry, said the results are known, but it’s needed to wait until 2:00 p.m. to announce formally.
He noted that 70% of people, who have voting right, have participated in the elections.
First Vice President Ishaq Jahangiri thanked people for actively participating in the elections and voting for Hassan Rouhani.
