"This morning, there was a new French strike which achieved its goal," Hollande said after an informal meeting with European Socialists here ahead of European Council summit scheduled for Oct. 23-24.
French president did not give details on the destroyed targets but the daily Le Figaro cited a source close to the Elysee as saying that French Rafales struck an armed vehicle of Daech group in northwest of Mosul.
On Wednesday, Hollande chaired a security council meeting aimed at facilitating and simplifying operations against the IS group.
Last month, France joined the United States-led military offensive against IS fighters.
