Baku-APA. Chinese Premier Li Keqiang arrived here Saturday for an official visit to Germany, the only European Union country included in his first overseas tour since taking office, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
Li will meet with German President Joachim Gauck and hold talks with Chancellor Angela Merkel. He will deliver a speech at a business luncheon and have extensive contact with people from the political and business communities.
Li and Merkel will also officially launch "the year of languages" between China and Germany, an initiative meant to promote the study of each other's languages.
To further expand bilateral cooperation, a series of documents will be signed regarding cooperation in fields including energy conservation and environmental protection, investment, agriculture and education.
Germany is the last leg of Li's maiden foreign trip as Chinese premier. He has visited India, Pakistan and Switzerland.
