Baku-APA. At least 81 people were killed and 243 others injured in 33 bomb blasts across Pakistan during the month of October although the federal government took initiatives to start peace dialogue with Pakistan Taliban, according to official statistics, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
Out of total 33 bomb attacks, four incidents were of suicide nature that killed 38 people including a provincial minister and injured 60 others in different regions of the country.
On Oct. 16, a suicide bomber stormed the house of a provincial law minister of northwestern restive province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and killed 11 people and left 30 others injured.
According to security officials, the incident took place when a suicide bomber blew his explosive-laden jacket near the minister when he was receiving Eid-greetings from people at his house in northwestern district of Dera Ismael Khan.
A militant group named "Ansar ul Mujahideen", that is known for its links with Pakistani Taliban, claimed responsibility for the attack and said they killed the minister in retaliation for the deaths of their men who were killed during a jailbreak in the city in July.
Politicians, security officials and analysts said that the attack was a conspiracy to sabotage the peace efforts that Pakistani gov't had started.
In August, the country's northwestern restive province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remained unhurt as not a single casualty was reported in any blast. But during October, 10 bomb attacks occurred in the province that killed 41 people and injured 68 others.
In another incident on Oct. 3, at least 15 people were killed and 10 others injured when a suicide bomber of Pakistan Taliban rammed his explosive-laden vehicle into the central building of a militant group Mullah Nabi Hanfi in Tul area of northwestern Hangu district.
Regarding the number of causalities, Pakistan's northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was the worst hit region with 10 attacks that killed 41 and injured 68 others.
The country's southwestern province of Balochistan was the second most hit region where 29 people were killed and 126 others sustained injuries in nine attacks.
There was six bomb blasts in southern province of Sindh, which killed six people besides injuring 22 others.
Pakistan's most populated eastern province of Punjab that most of the time remained unhurt suffered a terrorist attack when a time bomb blast hit a food market in its capital Lahore, killing one and leaving 14 others injured.
Militants carried out seven bomb attacks in northwestern tribal regions that border Afghanistan, killing four people and injuring 13 others.
Official statistics revealed that the terrorists carried out 33 bomb attacks, including four suicide blasts, at 33 targets during the period, killing 72 civilians as well as seven personnel from security forces and two policemen.
Overall, the militants conducted five direct attacks on security forces and one attack on police during the month.
The majority of bomb blasts were conducted by planting improvised explosive device (IED) on roadside or in vehicles.
Most of the attacks were left unclaimed but a couple of incidents were claimed by Pakistan Taliban.
