Baku-APA. At least four people were killed and five others wounded on Saturday when mortar shells struck the pro-government suburb of Jaramana in Syria's capital Damascus, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
The mortars landed at the residential area of Daf al-Sakher in Jaramana, an eastern suburb inhabited mostly by Christians and Druze. Three of those killed were from one family, according to the report.
The attack occurred just two days after 11 people were killed and 23 others wounded by a mortar attack against Jaramana. The city has been repeatedly targeted during the country's long- standing crisis as dozens of people have lost their lives in bombings and mortar attacks.
Earlier on Saturday, an eight-year-old girl was killed and 11 people were wounded when a mortar shell landed near a school in the heart of Damascus, leaving property loss in shops and cars, the state-run SANA news agency reported.
The escalating conflicts between the rebels and government troops continue amid international efforts to convene a conference addressing the Syria crisis in Geneva by mid-November.
Meantime, international chemical experts are now conducting their mission in Syria to oversee the destruction of the country's chemical arsenal.
