Baku-APA. Rescuers have evacuated 117 foreign tourists and Nepalese stranded in mountainous districts two days after a severe snowstorm triggered avalanche and killed two dozen trekkers in western Nepal, authorities said on Thursday, APA reports quoting Anadolu Agency.

Scores were still accounted for, and the search operation would continue on Friday.

In a statement, the Trekking Agents Association of Nepal said it had rescued 117 foreign tourists and Nepalese nationals so far. The organization said rescue efforts in Manang and Mustang districts had been halted on Thursday due to poor visibility.

Rescuers had brought down 10 bodies from the Kangla Pass Phu area to the district headquarters in Chame. The deceased were yet to be identified.

Officials and rescue teams said more than two dozen people were killed and dozens were still missing when a snowstorm triggered by Cyclone Hudhud in neighboring India brought unexpected rainfall and storms on Tuesday.
