Israeli ceasefire violations in the Gaza Strip are putting mediators in an awkward position, said Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, APA reports.
"Israel's continued violations of the ceasefire agreement put the mediators in an awkward position," he told reporters in Washington. The Qatari prime minister noted that the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian enclave remains an urgent issue. "We emphasized the importance of aid being delivered without any strings attached, especially tents [for housing people]," the Qatari prime minister added.
Speaking about the planned deployment of a peacekeeping force in the Gaza Strip, Sheikh Mohammed clarified that Doha "does not have full information on this matter at this time," but the parties are continuing "technical coordination with the United States regarding international stabilization and the definition of the tasks they will perform." "These should not be forces protecting one side at the expense of the other, but forces designed to protect both sides, the agreement itself, and ensure its implementation," he added, emphasizing that Qatar supports "all these efforts."
