Baku-APA. Suspected leftist New People's Army (NPA) freed Saturday afternoon their two captives, a police and a military personnel, in southern Philippine province of Compostela Valley, local police said, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
Senior Superintendent Camilo Cascola, provincial police office director, said that Senior Police Officer 1 Allan Pansoy and Private First Class Jesus Tomas were released at around 1:30 p.m., local time, in separate villages in Maco, Compostela Valley.
Pansoy was freed in the vicinity of Barili village, while Tomas at Sangab village.
The leftist rebels seized the police officer who was part of the convoy of Compostela Governor Arturo Uy on April 28 in Malamudao village in Maco town, while Tomas was snatched in a public market on April 24.
The NPA, an armed wing of the Communist Party of the Philippines-National Democratic Front, has been waging war against the government for over four decades.
