Baku-APA. Ankara would not let "the chaos in Syria" spill over Turkey, Turkish President Abdullah Gul said Thursday, referring to the twin car bombings in a border town close to Syria on Saturday which killed 51, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
"We will not let it happen. Everybody must know it," Gul said when addressing the local people during a visit to Reyhanli town of southern Hatay province, where the deadly blasts took place.
The death toll of Reyhanli bombings is the highest in a single terror attack in Turkey, the president said, vowing to bring whoever was involved in the attack to account. The incident would be made public with all its details, he said.
The aim of the attack was to cause provocation in Hatay, a multiethnic and multi-sectarian city, the president said. He meanwhile thanked the people of Reyhanli for hosting thousands of Syrian refugees, and warned against the provocations against those "guests."
Two severe explosions took place in front of the municipality and post office buildings in Reyhanli on May 11. Apart from the dead, more than 140 were wounded.
Turkish leaders have associated the attacks with pro-Syrian groups and the intelligence organizations in Syria. However, Damascus denied the accusation.
