Baku-APA. The deteriorated situation in the Gaza Strip was reflected Monday in the escalation of tension on the Lebanese-Israeli border region which witnessed high alert from the Israeli and the Lebanese armies and the Islamic resistance, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Lebanese security sources told Xinhua that the Israeli army raised the readiness of its troops to the utmost priority for the first time since the war in July 2006 between Israel and Hezbollah.

According to the source, the Israeli army reinforced during the past 48 hours its deployments and backed them with heavy equipment and artillery on the southern border with Lebanon particularly in the occupied Shebaa farms.

The Israeli army exercised Monday morning large live ammunition maneuvers inside the occupied Shebaa farms with the participation of tanks, helicopters and unmanned drones and during which dozens of shells were fired along with heavy machine guns.

Israeli jets also violated Lebanon's airspace over the regions of Hasbaya, Marjeyoun, Jezzine and Iklim el Touffah in the south and reached the West Bekaa region, breaking the sound barrier, the source said.

In the meantime, the Lebanese army and the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon intensified their patrols along the border line, while the Islamic resistance, the military wing of Hezbollah, was also on high alert in a preemptive move in fear of any military deterioration.
