Baku-APA. The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) remained committed to playing a mediator role to promote peaceful solutions to conflicts in the Arab world, head of the GCC said here on Wednesday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
The GCC was committed to solve conflicts in the region through diplomacy and negotiation, Abdullatif al-Zayani said, adding that "Our mission is to avoid unrest wherever it happens in the region and the GCC sticks to this guideline."
Speaking at the 12th Arab Media Forum, al-Zayani said the Syrian crisis should be ended soon to stop the suffering of Syrian civilians.
Asked how to solve the ongoing conflict in Syria, al-Zayani said it was not his power to present a peace plan. "Any diplomatic solutions would be designed by the political leaders of the six GCC member states," said Al Zayani.
