Baku-APA. Five people have been hit by a car at a pedestrian crossing in Sydney's central business district (CBD), the New South Wales (NSW) Police said on Wednesday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

The car was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Sussex Street and Goulburn Street in Sydney just before 11 a.m. ( local time) on Wednesday when another car struck it from behind, pushing it forward onto the crossing.

"Four pedestrians were injured, with one woman being knocked unconscious," the NSW Police said in a statement.

"None of the injuries are thought to be life threatening."

A motorcyclist who came off his bike during the incident was also injured, police said.

Goulburn Street between Sussex Street and Day Street is currently closed while emergency services are on the scene.

An Ambulance Service of NSW spokesman said three were taken to St Vincent's Hospital in a stable condition. Two of the patients had minor injuries, while the third is more seriously injured.
