Following the declaration of martial law in South Korea, military equipment has been deployed to the streets of Seoul, and helicopters have begun patrolling the skies, according to Army General Park An-Su, APA reports citing Yonhap.
He noted that clashes have already been recorded between opposition supporters gathered in front of the parliament building and the police.
Meanwhile, the leader of the opposition Democratic Party of Korea, Lee Jae-Myung, described the imposition of martial law as "unconstitutional," and called on the public to gather in front of the parliament building.
Note that according to the country's Constitution, if the legislative body decides to revoke martial law by a majority vote, the head of state must ensure its implementation.
