The establishment of a Palestinian state depends on Israel's decision, said Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar in an interview with the Belgian press, APA reports, citing The Times of Israel.
He called Belgium's decision to recognize Palestine "strange" and claimed that this decision was made under external pressure.
The Israeli Foreign Minister emphasized that the establishment of a Palestinian state depends on the decision of the Israeli government, not the decision of the Belgian government.
Gideon Saar stated that Israel has no intention of governing the population of Gaza.
He did not unequivocally deny the establishment of a Palestinian state and said that this process can only be realistic with a change in approach towards Israel.
The Israeli Foreign Minister also commented on US President Donald Trump's plan to govern and organize the reconstruction of Gaza.
"This could be a good thing, but there are two conditions. First, those who want to leave Gaza must be able to do so freely. Second, countries must be found that will accept those who leave Gaza," Gideon Saar set a condition.
