Mustafa Bozbey, the Mayor of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality from Türkiye’s Republican People’s Party (CHP), has been detained, APA reports.
Within the framework of an investigation conducted by the Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, a detention order was issued for Bozbey and 58 other suspects.
According to the information, those detained include Bozbey’s wife, daughter, brothers, and a number of businessmen. Searches are being carried out at Bozbey’s residence and the municipality building.
The prosecutor’s office stated that the suspects are being investigated under charges of “establishing a criminal organization and membership in such an organization,” as well as “legalization of funds obtained through criminal means.”
The operations were carried out simultaneously in Istanbul, Balıkesir, and Diyarbakır, with Bursa as the center. It was reported that 4 individuals are abroad and have also been put on the wanted list.
