Russian MFA: “India and Pakistan must refuse nuclear weapon”

Moscow. Farid Akberov – APA. “India and Pakistan must refuse nuclear weapon”, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, APA reports. According to him, their rejection could settle the number of problems: “We hope that if India and Pakistan join the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) as well as their rejection can influence on the solution of many problems”.

According to the reports submitted by Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), India developed 80-100 nuclear warheads in 2011, Pakistan – 90-110 nuclear warheads. This index was 8 thousands in US and about 11 thousands in Russian Federation.

Note that, according to the treaty signed by the above mentioned countries in 2010, they must reduce the amout of nuclear warheads. According to the document that came into force in 2011, the USA and Russia must reduce the amount of nuclear warheads to 1550 items till 2018.
