Baku-APA. At least 25 people are feared drowned after flash floods swept away a bus with 70 passengers on board in the eastern Indian state of West Bengal Thursday, a senior police official said, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

"The incident happened in the state’s Bankura district when the bus in which the victims were traveling was washed away in flash floods while it was crossing a bridge over a river which breached its danger level this afternoon. Locals rescued some 43 passengers while others are feared dead," he said.

Senior state government officials have rushed to the spot, the official said, adding Indian Navy divers have been pressed into service to fish out the missing people.

A probe has also been ordered into the incident, he added.
