Turkmen president’s motorcade crashes in Izmir

Baku-APA. Six cars in Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov’s motorcade crashed into each other and several officials were slightly injured in the Turkish city of Izmir on Friday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Local Dogan News Agency reported that Berdimuhamedov’s vehicle was not involved in the accident.

However, five rental luxury cars in the motorcade and one car belonging to members of the press crashed into each other in an underpass as the vehicles traveled from Adnan Menderes Airport to Alsancak port.

Berdimuhamedov was in Izmir to visit the Alsancak port and meet his Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gul in the resort town of Cesme.

The road was closed to traffic as several drivers and officials from the Turkmen delegation suffered bruises to their arms and legs.
