Syrian Charge D’Affaires in London resigns: British Foreign Office

Baku-APA. The Syrian Charge d’Affaires Khaled al-Ayoubi resigned his post in London on Monday, said British Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Al-Ayoubi informed the FCO that he has left his post in the Syrian Embassy in London on Monday.

"Mr al-Ayoubi has told us that he is no longer willing to represent a regime that has committed such violent and oppressive acts against its own people, and is therefore unable to continue in his position," a Foreign Office spokesperson said.

The FCO said this was "another blow to the (Bashar al-)Assad regime" and urged others to "follow Mr al-Ayoubi’s example, to disassociate themselves" from the regime.
