Baku-APA. Iran and will try to convince its partners to give up such plans, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on Wednesday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Ryabkov said no such resolution has been proposed to the UN Security Council so far, but stressed that Moscow’s rejection on a new sanction against Iran is "common knowledge."

"The international community will see all additional sanctions against Iran as an instrument of regime change in Tehran. We cannot accept this approach," Ryabkov said.

Russia believes such a sanction will drive the problem deeper, as the use of force against Iran will lead to unpredictable consequences to global and regional security, he said, adding dialogue is the only solution to the problem.

"Any use of force is allowed only as self-defense or if sanctioned by the UN Security Council. But the UN Security Council has not adopted any decisions to this effect. And we see no prerequisites for making such decisions in the future," Ryabkov added.

In its latest report on Iran’s nuclear program released on Tuesday, the International Atomic Energy Agency believed that Iran had carried out "organized and systematical" activities "specific to nuclear weapons" at least until the end of 2003.
