Baku-APA. Gales and hailstorms have brought down 1,500 houses, forcing homes to be evacuated of more than 300 people, over the past few days in southwest China’s Guizhou province, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
More than 33,000 residents in four counties near the city of Zunyi were effected by the natural disaster that began on Nov. 4. About 1,900 hectares of farmland were damaged and the authorities estimate the direct economic loss to have reached 1.4 million yuan (220,472 U.S. dollars), the provincial civil affairs bureau reported.
There is not yet any report of casualties.
The weather forecast station said the hailstorm would be followed by heavy rain that would last to late Wednesday.
