Baku-APA. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said the popular uprisings in the Middle East and North Africa mean a loss for the United States, the satellite Press TV reported on Wednesday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

The United States is losing its regional allies following this year’s popular uprisings and revolutions across the Middle East and North Africa, Mehmanparast said.

"The Americans are bewildered and confused in their decisions and behavior in the face of the regional revolutions," he was quoted as saying.

He pointed to the recent U.S. allegations of Tehran’s involvement in a terror plot to assassinate the Saudi envoy and said that such efforts are aimed at deflecting the public opinion from the wave of popular uprisings in the region.

The spokesman said that the majority of the American public will not accept the Washington-fabricated scenario against the Islamic Republic, according to Press TV.

In October, the United States said that the Islamic Republic was involved in sponsoring and promoting terrorist activities abroad, including a plot to assassinate the Saudi envoy in the United States. Iran has fiercely denied the charges.
