Baku – APA. One demonstrator was killed and more than 300 injured as Yemeni police attacked an anti-government sit-in in the capital Sanaa at dawn on Saturday, APA reports quoting AFP. Police fired live rounds and tear gas grenades as they moved in on the protesters, who have been camped out in University Square since February 21, they said.
The protesters demand resignation of President Ali Abdullah Saleh and democratic reforms. On Saturday, police started to break up the action and when the protesters broke concrete barriers installed at the square, police opened fire on them. Some sources said police used toxic gas instead of tear-gas which made several people insensible.
