Tokyo – APA. A 9-magnitude earthquake in Japan caused first causalities. According to APA, a tsunami hit the port in Sendai, in northern Japan and killed one. Local authorities said death toll would rise. Tsunami reached 10 meter altitude in Miyaghi prefecture.
A 9-magnitude earthquake hit north-eastern part of Japan on Friday with an epicenter in 373 km north-east of Tokyo. 6-7-magnitude aftershocks were registered in 67 km of Tokyo. Tsunami hit houses and cars in some prefectures. Authorities warned the people about tsunami threat and recommending them to leave their houses to be saved in more secure places.
In his televised address, Japan’s Prime Minister Naoto Kan called on the people to stay calm. He said the government would make all efforts to eliminate the results of earthquake. The Prime Minister urged the government officials to take quick and effective measures for elimination of quake results.
