One supporter of presidential candidate Mirhossein Mousavi killed, several others wounded in Iran

According to the official results of the presidential elections held on June 12, incumbent President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad won 62.63 percent of the votes and his main rival reformer Mirhossein Mousavi 33.75 percent of the votes. Mousavi did not agree to the results of the elections and declared his victory.

On June 13, his supporters started rally in Tehran to protest the vote rigging. The protesters had clashes with the security forces. The rallies continued on June 14-15. On June 15, the protesters had a clash with the police, when they attempted to march towards the Revolution square. It was followed by an armed incident. One of Mousavi’s supporters was killed, several were wounded. No information is given about the details of the incident.

Iranian Interior Minister said the rallies were unsanctioned.

Mousavi has already met with religious leader of Iran Ali Khamenei. Khamenei advised him to file appeal against the results of the voting.

The appeals filed by presidential candidates Mousavi and Mohsen Rezaee will be considered today.
