US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said in a briefing on Tuesday that he and President Donald Trump maintain a good relationship despite differences of views on issues like the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) regarding Iran’s nuclear program, APA reports quoting Sputnik.

"The president has repeatedly expressed his confidence in me, we have a good relationship," Tillerson said. "It is a very open relationship. It's one in which I feel quite comfortable telling him my views. He and I have differences of views on things like JCPOA and how we should use it."

Tillerson mentioned that the JCPOA deal offered a lot of immediate benefits to Iran before it had to deliver on anything.

The secretary of state added that the deal gives the United States and its allies limited leverage capabilities.

Last week, media reported that Tillerson was considering to resign from the State Department before the end of the year due to growing frustration with the Trump administration.

On Wednesday, Tillerson said he has no plans to resign from his post.
