The US Navy told The New York Times on Saturday that it had deployed a guided missile submarine in the Middle East, as tensions between Iran and Israel continue to escalate, APA reports.
The newspaper claims that the cause is a report that Iran's Revolutionary Guard Aerospace Force was preparing a drone strike against Israeli-owned civilian merchant ships.
In addition, according to an Iranian political strategist close to the Guards, the attack on Israeli-owned ships is a means of retaliation against Israeli airstrikes in Syria that killed two members of the Guards in March.
