The Washington administration is ready to facilitate the implementation of the agreements between Phnom Penh and Bangkok on a cessation of hostilities, according to a written statement by Tommy Pigott, deputy press secretary of the US State Department, APA reports.
“We welcome Thailand’s release of 18 Cambodian soldiers and view this as a positive step toward restoring good-neighborly relations and trust,” the document notes. “The United States stands ready to support the governments of Cambodia and Thailand in further implementing the key measures agreed upon in the joint declaration signed on October 26 [2025 in Kuala Lumpur].”
"The United States welcomes the decisive actions by the governments of Cambodia and Thailand to implement the December 27 peace agreements," Pigott emphasized. "They demonstrate the commitment of both countries to immediately establish a lasting peace by implementing the provisions of the Kuala Lumpur peace accords."
