Iran is using members of Hezbollah and armed groups in Iraq to suppress the protests, APA reports.
This was stated on the Persian-language “X” account of the U.S. Department of State.
“Reports that the regime of the Islamic Republic is using terrorists from Hezbollah and groups in Iraq to suppress peaceful protests are deeply concerning to the United States. This regime has spent billions of dollars belonging to the Iranian people on terrorist proxies. Using these forces against its own citizens would be another profound betrayal of the Iranian people," the State Department said in its statement.
