The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed on Monday that senior ISIS Syria leader Abd-al-Hadi Mahmud al-Haji Ali was killed in a "unilateral helicopter raid" it carried out earlier in the day, APA reports citing Teletrader.
The US military noted that it launched the operation to kill Al-Haji Ali after intelligence "revealed an ISIS plot to kidnap officials abroad and leverage ISIS initiatives."
"We know ISIS retains the desire to strike beyond the Middle East," CENTCOM spokesman Colonel Joe Buccino stated. "We are therefore committed to the enduring defeat of ISIS," he added.
