The US State Department has approved the sale of air-to-air missiles to Denmark for $951 million, the Pentagon's Defense Security Cooperation Agency, which is responsible for the sale of military equipment and weapons abroad within the framework of intergovernmental agreements, APA reports.
According to the statement, the Danish government previously requested the purchase of 236 AMRAAM-ER (Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile) missiles and related equipment from the United States.
The document emphasizes that the proposed sale would be consistent with US foreign policy and national security objectives by enhancing the security of a NATO ally.
The US administration has already informed Congress of its decision to approve the potential sale of these missiles.
The legislature has 30 days to review the potential deal and consider whether to block it.
