The United States does not intend to promote regime change or launch a military operation in Iran. US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee stated this in an interview with the British television channel Sky News, APA reports.
"I don't think this is something the US is actively involved in or trying to speed up," he said, when asked whether Washington is trying to hasten a change in the Islamic Republic's leadership.
"It's about respect, and that's what President [US Donald] Trump has defined - he definitely wants there to be an understanding that the Iranian government should not kill its own citizens, should not maim them, should not torture them because they are protesting, they have a right to protest," the diplomat added.
"I don't think the US or Israel are planning to enter into conflict right now," Huckabee said, admitting that such decisions are not within his purview and are made in Washington.
